Il Circolo Scholarships for the year 2008
have been awarded to:
- A
graduate in Lettere Moderne from the University of Siena, currently at
Royal Holloway University of London, to support his PhD research
project on Antonio GramsciÕs literary language;
- An IB
student from KingÕs College School in London, who has been offered a place
at Cambridge University to read History, to attend a course at the
University of Perugia in Italian culture, history and literature;
- A
student at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School at The Royal
College of Music in London and former pupil at the Accademia Chigiana in
Siena, to follow an Italian language course in Italy;
- A
second year PhD student in Musicology at St. AnneÕs College, Oxford, with
a MasterÕs degree in Musicology from Oxford University, for his
research on the 17th Century Italian composer, Arcangelo
Corelli;
- A
graduate in Economic
Development and International Co-operation from the University of
Florence, currently attending a course in Environmental Technology at the
Imperial College, for research in renewable energy and carbon market
under the European Emission Trading Scheme to provide innovative solutions
for the Italian government and industry;
- A
graduate in European Languages and Culture from Exeter University and now
a first year PhD student at the Courtauld Institute of Art, for
research on the work of the Italian photographer Gabriele Basilico;
- A
graduate in Lingue e Letteratura Straniera from the University of Bologna and
now a second year PhD student of Italian Studies at the University of
Edinburgh, for research in the Italian translations of the
stream-of-consciousness narrative techniques;
- A
graduate in English and French from Oxford University, with a MasterÕs
degree in Comparative Literature from University College of London, now a
PhD student at the Courtauld Institute of Art, for research on
Neorealism photography;
- A
high baritone, currently in his final year of the Voice Undergraduate
Programme at the Royal Academy of Music, to attend Ian LedinghamÕs
Opera Summer course in
Montaretto;
- A
graduate student with a MasterÕs degree in Musical performance from the
Opera Course of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, as a
contribution to supporting his second yearÕs studies;
- A
baritone, currently studying for a post-graduate diploma in Performance at
The Royal Academy of Music, to attend Lella Alberg and Ian LenghamÕs
Opera Summer course in Montaretto;
- A
first year PhD student in composition at the Royal College of Music, for
doctoral research on Luciano BerioÕs musical theatre and vocal music.
