Il Circolo’s Bazaar is an authentic Christmas fair which gives the London public wonderful exposure to a huge range of Italian products and some international goods all of the highest quality and refinement. The Bazaar is a truly enjoyable and elegant event which takes place in the historic Chelsea Old Town Hall in the King’s Road, in the heart of London. This year, participants will have the chance to show their quality artisanal and gastronomic products during the day and a half of the Bazaar.
On Tuesday 1 December the opening cocktail reception from 18.30 to 21.30 (ticket only) gives our male clients the opportunity to accompany their female partners in tasting many of the very select products including olive oil and wonderful wines as well as the chance to make their Christmas purchases together. The second day, Wednesday 2 December from 10.00 to 20.00, the Bazar will be open to the public. Traditionally this event is inaugurated by the wife of the Italian Ambassador in London.
In 2008 the Bazaar attracted 1500 people in a single day. There were 62 vendors, divided into gastronomy and fashion sections. Total proceeds from the event were £20,000, raised from the sale of tables, from the 10% rate on sales, from entry ticket donations, the raffle and the cocktail evening and from the high value prizes generously donated to the auction. Of special note from last year’s Bazaar were gastronomic rarities such as truffles from Le Marche, Modica chocolate and extra virgin olive oil from Puglia. Under the frescoed ceiling of Chelsea Old Town Hall’s main hall the quality of Italian design together with the superb level of artisan handwork is obvious for all to see.
The Bazaar CommitteeThis year’s special Bazaar Committee is made up of a group of young, entrepreneurial friends, mainly Italian, living in London for a long time, who have volunteered to put into practice their interests and desire to promote Italian craftsmanship and in particular products which fall into the niche market of top-quality gastronomy.
The highest standards of both quality and quantity have been set by the Bazaar lead team - whose success with last year’s Bazaar was outstanding - headed by the founder of this year’s Committee, the joint President Alessandra de Michelis di Slonghello, together with the other joint President, the very experienced Luisella Strona who has many years of working in the voluntary sector and the Event Manager Jennifer di Benedetto whose proved professionalism and attention to detail are invaluable. But the Bazaar Committee does not operate on its own: the constant support and contribution to the success of the Bazaar made by "Il Circolo" members ensures that " Il Circolo"’s Christmas Bazaar has become one of the most eagerly awaited events in the London Christmas calendar.
