SUMMARY:Il Circolo Bookclub Mondo Nuovo | "Falsi Amici" by Claudia Durastan
 ti
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n Join Il Circolo Bookclub – Mondo Nuovo\, our Italia
n book club\, for an online discussion of "Falsi Amici" by Claudia Durasta
nti with Olga Campofreda.\nPiero della Francesca\, Amy Winehouse’s shoes
 \, women’s literature under Fascism\, Cesare Pavese\, *Lolita* and a hou
se in the province of Messina.\nIn Claudia Durastanti’s first collection
of essays\, all these stories share a common colour: pink. A colour that
is both feminine and intense\, pink becomes the starting point for an expl
oration that drives the author like an archaeologist of the present. For w
hilst it is true that fiction can draw on lived experiences\, it is equall
y true that non-fiction offers life a space for reflection that can give r
ise to imagination.\nFollowing her forays into autofiction and genre ficti
on\, with *Falsi amici* Claudia Durastanti brings her intimate and analyti
cal writing into the realm of the narrative essay\, to explore topics and
inspirations that are only seemingly eclectic. The pink hue of *Falsi amic
i* is a chromatic filter of deceptive sweetness\, the profound meaning of
a manifesto that questions current affairs\, politics and the body\, but i
t is also an adventure of the mind\, in which the author reflects on her o
wn intellectual role\, her relationship with the masculine and motherhood\
, through a welcome openness to the unexpected and the unpredictable. In w
riting as in life.\nThis event is open to Non-members at an additional con
tribution of £5.\nIl Circolo membership supports our mission to provide a
wards and scholarships to deserving students\, while offering a range of b
enefits throughout the year\, including access to the Book Club and other
selected events at no additional cost.\nFind out more about membership and
  its benefits here.\n\n\n\n\n\n
