The Il Circolo Art Club is organizing a special tour led by art curator Hanna Lund, featuring the first major exhibition ‘Leighton and Landscape’ by Frederic Leighton. His sketches were painted en plein air during his travels, showcasing the celebrated Victorian artist in a new light.
The exhibition ‘Leighton and Landscape: Impressions from Nature’ reveals Leighton as a spontaneous and experimental artist who took a different path than many of his contemporaries, documenting the places he visited.
The exhibition is on display at Leighton House, his former home and studio, where a dedicated gallery is devoted to Leighton’s paintings and drawings from Capri, which he regarded as “the island of his heart.”
